Player Information Name: Sina Age: 29 Timezone: cet E-mail: sina.madargon@gmail.com
Basic Character Information Character Name: Nicole Sara Harrisson Nicknames/Alias: Niki or Cole Race/Ethnicity: Italian; Caucasian Age: 41 Date of Birth: March 10th, 448 Sex: Female Occupation: Owns and runs Ravenlock Café and Books.
Appearance PB: Marisa Tomei Physical Description: Nicole doesn't mount for much, at least not a first glance. She stands just above 5'2" and weighs in at a whooping 100 lbs, she's always been a small so it's nothing she views as a downside, it's just how she is and if that bugs you she's not above smacking you with a heavy book. Books actually is her only means of exercise as she utterly despises anything that would normally be called training and avoids it like the plague. Her daily exercise consists of lugging around books between coffee and smoke breaks. Her lack of training doesn't really help her diminished size much.
Nicole is a pretty woman though, all things considering with naturally, curly, brown hair that reaches down below her shoulders and a set of almond like brown eyes though most notably is probably her wide smile. She smiles a lot and it seems to have a relaxing affect on people, which in turn makes her smile even more. She's fairly light skinned, not really having the time to lay out and about in the sun all days even if she does every now and then take a break to do just that. She has an Ankh tattooed on her right hipbone.
Personality Perks/Strengths: Knowledgeable, attentive, kind, friendly, logical, book smart, quick learner. Flaws/Weaknesses: Physically weak, paranoid, hateful. Has a very bad memory, tends to forget things at very inappropriate times. Also is rather impulsive which has more than once gotten her from a bad situation into an even worse one. Motivations: Nicole is a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, we might not understand the reason right now but there is one. Though this doesn't stop her from actively - in any way she can - help the people who fight against those who are mutated. A dreamer at heart she wants to live in a world free of infection and mutated, a world without walls to keep the terrors out. Mutations: Mental (fast learning). Unknown to Nicole she does carry a mutation of her own, she's a very fast learner and can remember just about everything she's ever read making her a virtual database of knowledge. Though don't expect her to remember things when she's stressed. Personally she figures she's just gifted, hence why she remembers things so well. Quirks and habits: Nicole is obsessed with myths, mythology and pretty much anything occult. She's got a strong interest in history overall and in her private collection she has a few rare volumes of old world history books. Anyone who even touches these will lose a hand and their head. She can be seen near constantly tugging and twirling on her hair and sometimes even fingering the silver cross she carries hanging beneath her clothing.
She's a caffeine addict and drinks up to 2 liters a day and as if that wasn't unhealthy enough, whenever she stresses or is nervous, she smokes. It's not just one or two cigarettes, but near a pack at a time. So she always keeps a pack or two under the counter.
Personality: The impression that people get when meeting Nicole for the first time is usually that of a cheerful and slightly stressed woman. Always having a smile over for her customers and most of all, never one to pass up the chance to sit down and get to know the new people that come into her place, mostly to still her own curiosity actually. She does at times come across as a bit quirky, and while she does have her oddities, most of them tie into her usually having her head in the clouds. For a woman in her 40's she surprisingly childlike and very easily flustered, to the point of stammering and rushing off somewhere to hide when people make passes on her.
Despite this there's a side to her that most people never get to see, a paranoid and very hateful side. Deeply rooted in her history lies a hatred toward the mutated, while she doesn't have anything again people in general her hatred and despise against those who have evolved is near limitless. She actively works to supply information to CID whenever she can and has gained a favored eye from the organization and is viewed as one of their more trusted moles. Due to this Nicole has developed a paranoid streak about a mile wide and she's not one to trust people easily, not even those she's known for a while are above suspicion. The pro-mutant people are everywhere after all and they would just love to get their hands on someone like her.
When asked Nicole herself would claim that her worst trait would be that she's too impulsive, because more than once this has gotten her into issues as she's acted before thinking. She might not seem like the brightest crayon in the box but she is actually rather intelligent, but her intelligence is that of book smarts, not street smarts and this has always been a drawback for her.
History Family: Jonna Harrisson, Mother (Deceased). Steve Harrisson, Father (Deceased). Place of Residence: Basement apartment in Krethar. Background: Nicole spent her first couple of years with a good family, they weren't spectacular in anyway but she had a nice family life none the less with parents that loved and cared for her. Up until she was ten the family lived in Annola, running a small bed and breakfast so whether she wanted it or not there was always a lot of people around and Nicole blames this for her being the social person she's grown into becoming.
The year she turned 11, the family moved into Fionara where they lived right up until her parent's death in 467. Nicole was 15 at the time and had been out with friends that afternoon instead of coming straight home from school. When she late at night snuck in she was struck horrified to find both her parents dead by the kitchen table. The shell shocked girl was taken in by some good neighbors and not long after the investigation into her parents death there started flying rumors about mutants, and that they had been in fact killed by a rouge group that had somehow managed to escape from Sunoria.
This was the trigger for a lifelong hate against mutants; those people had killed her beloved parents for no good reason and still young she swore to do all that she could to make sure every last one of them was put to death. What Nicole was and would be forever unknowing of was that her parents were actually victims of a CID cover-up and that they had in fact been fighting to help smuggle mutants out of danger zones and setting up new lives for them elsewhere.
At age 19, Nicole graduated with a degree in Library and Information Science and got a job at one of Fionara's larger libraries. It was something she loved to do, the smell of old books and the feel of bound leather gave her some kind of comfort in a broken world and she grew near possessive of the books she worked with. But that wasn't all there was to her, being the social and friendly person she was Nicole had a way to nestle her way into groups and every time she found news about a pro-mutant group or just anyone of that opinion she would report her findings to CID until one day one of her tips gave a big nice handout. A large group of mutants were captured and as a thank you for her services Nicole received a check that shocked her severely. She had never really thought that she would or even could get paid for her services in such a way.
With the "in heritage" from her newly "deceased uncle" Nicole quit her job at the library and bought a small store in Fionara, just off one of the main shopping streaks. After she'd left school, Nicole had started dreaming about having her own book store and now, at age 23 her dream was becoming a reality. But life wasn't perfect just because she had managed her dream, and the bookstore wasn't doing all that well. Though perhaps it was her personality or maybe the atmosphere of the place, it did attract people, they just weren't buying anything. So after two years of struggling she finally caved, threw a tantrum and decided to redo the place.
With the help of a friend she started reworking the concept of the store, moving her more precious and rare books into the basement and making room on the main and upper floor for tables. They kept the sweet and subdued charm of the place as the bookstore started doubling as a café as well.
Ravenlock Café and Books has since become one of those niché cafés, attracting mostly people who work or have worked or want to work within the written word. It's a place that's enough out of the way yet known enough to be a meeting point for people that perhaps doesn't always want to meet in complete public. And all of it happening under Nicole's watchful eye, she still reports to CID and every now and then get some extra money as her leads pan out into something more.
Samples First-person Sample: PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
I swear on Ash that the next person that utters anything at all about specific parts of of my or my employee's anatomy is going to be BANNED on life - after I've poured a pot of scolding coffee over their head.
That is all.
Third-Person Sample: Nicole was fuming around the nearly finished cigarette that dangled from her lips. She'd pulled up a chair behind the counter and was trying to clear up the cash registry for the day. It had been one of those no-good, very bad nights and the only thing lacking was someone trying to break in to rob her now. Thankfully the street outside was dark and quite, much like the café and the only real sign of her being in there was the light under which she worked.
Angrily stubbing out the cigarette butt Nicole reached for her coffee only to her dismay finding it having already gone cold. Her top lip curled back in disgust as she tried decide if cold coffee was better than no coffee. It was downed all in one go before she leaned back in her seat and clasped her hands together behind her head, eyes closed as she made a rather feeble attempt to relax a little. Her doctor, not to mention Erzse would probably kill her if the already spiking blood pressure didn't take care of her before then.
With her eyes closed Nicole smiled slight as she picked out the noises that was around here, there was the soft hum of the still running coffee machine in the back. Her computer apparently running something because it sounded like hell, she could probably do with getting it upgraded some time; and then there was that, tapping? She sat up, her eyes snapping open as she glanced around the café, unable to tell what was making that noise.
It irked her enough to get up and leave her paperworks behind, slowly making her way around the tables with familiar ease as she let her ears guide her. It was coming from outside. The revelation made her frown and she crept closer to the front door, peering out into the darkness. There, she could see them, a barely noticeable figure leaning up against the wall across the street and a child, beating down on a tin can with a stick, making that metallic tapping noise.
Stepping backward slowly and keeping her eyes on the people across the street Nicole moved towards the counter and grabbed the phone, dialing the number from her mind while she watched as yet another person joined them. |
